“Sustainability Sells” What is the best business claim to embrace Sustainability

Sustainability Sells! This is the conclusion of Nielsen´s report What´s Sustainability got to do with it? which connects sustainability to increasing sales.

It’s a claim that I have been advocating for several years. Not only because we, Human Beings, need to work towards sustainable development, but also because consumers prioritize sustainable options because they are more aware of the impact of their purchasing decisions on environmental and resource exploitation. Acknowledging consumer sentiment, sales, growth, distribution and more, is essential to growth.

According to Nielsen´s latest report, sales of items with sustainability claims, such as environmental claims (carbon neutral, ethically sourced, made with renewable energy, etc.), organic ingredients or fair trade products, in the analysed categories, chocolate, coffee and bath products, grew faster than the total category. Making connections in your marketing strategies

When a brand launches a campaign that can connect with people on an emotional level, most people want to be a part of it. To connect with people, it is important to create a one-on-one interaction with them, by creating an opportunity to join the conversation with a hashtag, by reposting images, and replying to comments. Being associated with a powerful and inspirational message, which is extensively shared, leaves a lasting impression on everyone who sees it and everyone who is involved.

At the beginning of this year LinkedIn created a social media campaign that changed the focus from their site to their audience by asking, “What are you in it for?” LinkedIn created a video ad campaign from member submissions that launched during the Golden Globes. The ads featured professionals in their respective fields with the message that members, of all unique professions, have a community in their platform. “Whatever you’re in it for, we’re in it together,” according to LinkedIn. The IIMP is planning to launch a Marketing magazine for practitioners and we would like to get your opinion, input to build the best concept as well as to gather team members to help in the following areas:

1 – Editor-in-Chief
2 – Co-Editors
3 – Editorial Team Members
4 – Graphic Designers
5 – Advertising Sales Team Members
6 – Writing Contributors

As a starting point, we believe that our differentiation is our wide coverage since our board has members from 192 countries. It means 192 different views, cases, experience.

Yet, although we aim to publish a paper magazine eventually, the use of online tool offer high interaction and decrease the cost of such work. Furthermore, through a web site, we would be able to ask regularly what people want to read, discuss and learn. Thus, it would allow us to reflect those demands to our actions, leading our magazine to be web 3.0.

Therefore, we should try to make it as interactive as possible to keep it alive, updated and people engaged. In addition, some groups on LinkedIn, Facebook among others would be created as well as mobile applications.

The registration for IIMP® accredited CMMP® (Certified Marketing Management Professional) program is now officially open, that will recognize marketing professionals, practitioners and academics around the globe.

The International Institute of Marketing Professionals (IIMP®) has officially launched the world’s first globally-recognized marketing management designation – the (IIMP®) accredited Certified Marketing Management Professional (CMMP®) program.

The establishment of the CMMP® designation is the recognition of expertise, competencies and contribution of marketing professionals to their organizations, their profession, their career and to the society as a whole. Marketing professionals who register, participate and qualify in the CMMP® program will receive a certification upon completion. Attaining the CMMP® is a mark of distinction for those who demonstrate commitment to the marketing profession and to its ethical practice.

The CMMP® designation framework, which consists of two parts – Marketing Management Fundamentals and areas of specialization have been developed and approved by the following Boards and Councils:
1. Internationally Accepted Marketing Standards Board (IAMSB)—The IAMSB consists of academic leaders, consultants and business professionals from G-20 countries with expertise and experience in the field of marketing.

2. International Advisory Council for the Marketing Profession (IACMP)—The IACMP consists of a broad cross-section of academic leaders, consultants and business professionals representing 192 countries with extensive experience and expertise in the marketing field.

3. Advisory Council of Marketing Practitioners (ACMP)—The ACMP consists of practitioners working within the areas of marketing at different levels of management. These council members contribute by providing feedback based upon their practical experiences.

The CMMP® program has the following four designations:
1. Associate CMMP®
2. Manager CMMP®
3. Executive CMMP®
4. Chartered CMMP®

All CMMP® designations are custom based designed to cater to professional development needs of the marketing professionals serving at various strategic levels of operations in their organizations and having a variety of professional qualifications and experience.

IIMP Empowers CMMP Canada to Establish Internationally Accepted Marketing Standards and Marketing Designations in Canada

The officials at the International Institute of Marketing Professionals (IIMP®) have announced that the Certified Marketing Management Professionals (CMMP®) of Canada to establish the implementation of Internationally Accepted Marketing Standards (IAMST) and Marketing Designations in Canada.

The IIMP® has been developing Internationally Accepted Marketing Standards that are of high-quality, practical, enforceable and comprehensive. The standards will implement best practices, polices and accountability in the field of marketing. They will be used to establish integrity and ethical conduct in the marketing profession by providing credibility to the marketing practices, interactions and transactions with clients within business-to-stakeholders including consumers, businesses, governments and society. The adoption IAMST will distinguish the marketing field from other disciplines and the standards will provide a framework and reference for training programs and marketing designations.

The IIMP® has further lead the development of a marketing designation that is aimed to enhance the marketability of marketing practitioners and academicians around the world. Individuals who have achieved specific qualifications through their education and work experience in the marketing field are able to obtain a marketing designation through the CMMP® Canada. The marketing designations have been developed through a state-of-the-art infrastructure that consists of the following board and councils:

1. Internationally Accepted Marketing Standards Board (IAMSB)—The IAMSB consists of academic leaders, consultants and business professionals from G-20 countries with expertise and experience in the field of marketing.

 IIMP® Introduces New Marketing and Communications Team with the strong need of recruiting new members among marketing professionals.

The new Marketing and Communications Committee of the IIMP® showcases the application of marketing to practice among marketing academia and practitioners with the strong need of recruiting new members among marketing professionals.

The International Institute of Marketing Professionals (IIMP®), a not for profit volunteer marketing organization is introducing an expanded Marketing and Communications Committee which will handle all of the marketing functions for the organization. The newly established committee embraces all aspects of marketing by promoting advances made by the IIMP® and enabling its members to further promote their career goals, dedicated to encouraging and recognizing excellence in marketing practice and theory around the world. The Marketing and Communications Committee is now seeking professional and academic marketing leaders to take an active volunteer role in this IIMP® committee.

“The establishment of the Marketing Communications Committee embraces the recognition of integrated marketing communications within the IIMP®. At the same time I would like to express the strong need of new members with specific technical experience and extensive administrative experience. New volunteers with experience and knowledge ranging from product and brand management, marketing strategy, market analysis, planning and research, database management, social media and internet communication, and marketing administration are welcome,” says Prof. Dr. Chuck Hermans, PhD., Senior Vice President Marketing of IIMP®.

The structure of the new Committee includes four primary functional areas:
1) Brand Management which is responsible for developing the IIMP® designation strategy and managing all aspects of the various IIMP® associated brands;
2) Product Development which is responsible for finalizing IIMP® offerings and bringing those products and services to a marketable state;
3) Communications for IIMP® stakeholders both internally and externally with marketing professionals, academics and students, as well as the IIMP® staff, committee members, editorial boards and advisors; and
4) Market Planning and Research which is responsible for consumer, and market planning and research to support the marketing of the IIMP®.

With the expansion of the Marketing Communications Committee, several new opportunities for volunteers are currently available. Applications will be accepted from Vice-Presidents, Directors, Brand Managers, New Product Development Managers, Advertising and Marketing Communications Managers, Digital Communications and Development Managers. Open marketing support functions include market planning and consumer research, internal and external marketing communications, social media marketing, advertising, and public relations. In the area of social media, we are specifically seeking a Facebook Manager, Linked-in Manager, RenRen and Twitter Manager.

Volunteers for the IIMP® have each agreed to dedicate a few hours a week to the organization in an effort to improve marketing practice around the world.
